So I got the song of a "greatest hits of the 70's" or "80's"
(forgot which one) and I heard theres supposed to be a guitar solo in it, but i don't hear it.

was it cut out, or am I just not worthy of hearing the solo?...

The length of my version of the song is 3:53.
I'm gonna suffer for the rest of my life

But I will always find a way to survive

In the '70s and '80s, if a song was too long, they would play the "radio version" on the radio which was shortened, and usually took out part of a solo or something. Unfortunately, those versions are sometimes used for CD's like the one you described.

So, yeah it was probably cut out.

You're just not ready for a solo that wicked.

Aye. As my dad put it, you would have serious difficulty getting a song more than three minutes long played. Songs like "Layla" and "American Pie" were notable exceptions.
