So i've been hoping to get my hands on one of these for a while now, but i'm not very good at saving up money, and thanks to the current financial climate, the best price i can find has recently jumped £100, and they don't seem to go second hand very often, so i was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations?

I've seen a few used Ibanez SZs around, and for the price, i could fit the guitars with bareknuckles and still pay less than a new x50, but would it be as good?

I'm basically looking for something with similar specs, but without having to pay £400 for it. Used is good, i'm no stranger to eBay, if it will be as good for the price after a (even if i have to include the cost of new pickups at some point).

SZ with bareknuckles would be fantastic, provided it is an SZ320 or above.

Also, you obviously haven't looked around much.

there's a schecter c1 classic on e-bay at the moment. It was on before xmas and has just been relisted - I know cos I almost bought it. Probably go for £300-£350 and looks in good nick

Funny thing though, Schecters are actually worse than the SZ and X50.

My local guitar shop has one that I played not too long ago, and i would say it's about an hours drive from Cambridge. It's in Watton. Lovely guitar, pleasure to play.

Last time I was in it was listed as £350 in the shop, but Im sure you could get him down lower than that, even to around the £300 mark, he is very flexable with prices, and it has been sitting there for a while, so, who knows.

I've seen both 320's and 520's. There are always SZ320s on ebay, mostly in pretty good nick, don't see the 520s as often tho.

Thanks for the link. I've never found that one before - basically spent 3 hours one day looking for places stocking the X50, and could only find a couple. Tho that does make it that much harder to choose.

So i guess the question now becomes, what's a better deal, a used SZ for under £200, or an X50pro at £300? Or any other alternatives w/ similar spec?

Unfortunately, i'm in manchester at the moment - uni is here, home is cambridge. If i'd known about that 2 weeks ago tho, i'd have gone for it. Cheers anyway

Don't settle for something else man. I have the x50 pro FE and it's awesome. Keep saving or keep looking, you won't regret it, but you may regret getting something else.

Well, i think i'm gonna try and get the X50, but if Rich tone music puts their price up before i can manage to buy it, and i can't find it anywhere else at that price, i'll go with a used SZ or something similar.
