I'm new to playing guitar i've been playing for about 4 months and I would like to know how to get that echo sound out of an amp, or maybe if you have to buy a certain type of amp.

I have a

Jay Turser LP copy

Peavey Rage 268 i think.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think your looking for Delay
its a type of effect
If your amp doesnt have it, you can buy a pedal for it

TS; you are looking for reverb, you can buy specialist pedals for it if you don't want to change your equipment just yet as some amps have it built in.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ SD Alnico Pro II's
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster & Stratocaster
Marshall JCM 800 4104 combo

you can buy either a multi-effects or an amp with built in effects (they usually have three or four efect types), but you're either looking for a delayor chorus. multi effect units are your best bet, though if you buy one with a pedal. i bought one when i didnt know what i was doin' and got lumbered with constant effects an' its terrible for cutting thrrough my marshall.
