I just got a used epi lp standard used. I noticed that the nut has a huge chip in it that goes from the edge to the low e string. It was almost impossible to get the strings out because they were previously bass strings. Whoever put them in there didnt realize that the thickness of it would damage it that much. Half the slot and over from the e string is gone. I was thinking about replacing the nut with an earvana nut. Could someone tell me if that is a good idea or not?

Replace it with a Graphtech Black TUSQ if you're intonation is fine because it actually does improve your tone, the Earvana just helps compensate for guitars that won't intonate right.
