My amp has both on the rear panel. whats the difference?
i stuck my echo in the effects loop and it sounded horrible. would it hurt to try it in the amp in,preamp out?
My band's one cover is in my profile!

Effects in and out are just a loop to put effects in, for example;
effects out -> wah pedal -> echo -> effects in.

Amp in and out are to connect the amp to another cabinet I think, though i'm not sure.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ SD Alnico Pro II's
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster & Stratocaster
Marshall JCM 800 4104 combo

I can see why you would think that but i ruled that out because it says PREamp out. Meaning it wouldnt power the speaker. thanks though.

If it's a preamp out then it must be able to connect it to a seperate poweramp instead of a speaker.

Its pretty much the same thing. Line out/FX send. Line in/FX return. Crate calls it insert and uses a stereo jack. All the companies seem to come up with something slightly different to call it.
