I searched around a bit, to no avail, and I'm a bit curious:
Have you guys heard of/played any of the modtone effects? Based solely off random utube vids (and we know how reliable those are), they sound really solid, especially for the price $39 for the distortion, and 50-100 each for the rest of the lot seems like a pretty a good deal.
For 60 bucks, this overdrive sounds amazing:

Phaser/delay sound promising as well:

On an unrelated note, I'd love to have "paul from guitarworld"'s job.
Lucky &@$%@*#.

I'm probably going to get that od, hopefully pics/clips will follow.

You generally get what you pay for with mass produced (as opposed to hand built) pedals, quality-wise.

Bah, I was afraid of that. They seemed like they might be too good to be true. darkarbiter, sounds like you've played them before, which would you take if they were all the same price:

modtone od?

If they were all the same price?

Hmm...
I'd take the BM.

Dual EQ controls, sturdy construction, great tone, all good traits for a budget OD.

^would you say the speedbox xl would be sound good for when I need low volume distortion? My Palomino's OD channel sounds too muddy at low volumes

I forget, is the Speedbox XL the distortion model?
Fortunately, I tried that too.
I liked it better than the Boss DS1. It sounds more transparent and natural to my ears.
The mids are a bit scooped though.

yea thats the distortion model, well from what I hear scooped mids might help clear up muddyness at low volume, does it do any lower gain settings well? like when the gain a bit more than an OD by itself could do?

lbj273, I'm in the same situation as you. Same amp and everything (15 watter). I think I'm going to get an od though, so I can use it for louder stuff too, and it'll come in handy if I buy that new 4watt vox next month.

I didn't try it extensively, I just liked it better than the DS1. I liked the metal switch better than boss's buffered bypass.

That 4 Watt vox does look scrumptious
Has a priced been confirmed yet?

I have a 50 watter, and an OD pedal already but thats not really doing this job well, works well on the clean channel but doesn't have enough gain for everything I play, I also have a Sovtek Big Muff, the green one, that does an awesome fuzz tone but once again I am looking for just a straight distortion tone.

I used to own an Aqua Chorus. Great for the money, better IMO than the Small Clone.

I'm also GASing for one of the delays.
