well? who do you think is an underatted lyriscist

i personally think doc neeson is one of the best lyricist in the world

fix up your face, harpoon your hair
all the little vanities keep you from despair
freedom from hunger, is a piece of cake- eat city (by the angels)

I aint the one (by the angels)
Smokers smoking in the smoking room, fishes in the fish tank
sailors waiting for the tide to turn, too bad the ship sank
well dressed wax-work wound up to walk
stares through the window
clown in the alley-way looking for an exit, facing the shadows
I don't patronise you
I dont' try to put you down
I don't criticise you
I ain't the one , I ain't the one to judge
Hard hitting journalist, says he's a communist
says he believes in world war III
lives in a high-rent luxury apartment, he ain't fooling me

And a line that ive always thought was really great is -
who suffers fools and freaks, who hangs in guilty cliques- part of "after the rain"

now post away

Daron Malakian wrote all of the lyrics for System of A Down, Serj gets all the credit though.

Wrong, Daron only wrote some of the lyrics in Mezmerize/Hypnotize.. Serj did the majority for the previous albums as well as the double album.

+1, but he's really not that underrated. Pretty much every fan of real hip hop thinks he's good.

Wrong, their first album's lyrics were almos entirely wtitten by Tankian, and Daron just began to collaborate with a couple lyrics during the Toxicity era, it was not until the Hypnotize/Mesmerize albums that he did participate quite a lot in the lyrics. And I do not think Daron's underrated as a lyricist while in System, ... even though his singing abilities are way overrated...

Why is everybody naming Maynard James Keenan from Tool/APC/Puscifer? I believe he's well respected as a lyricist and singer.
If any, I must name Andy Spearpoint, lead singer of New Fast Automatic Daffodils. Now again, that band has been totally underrated for years except for Madchester fans. (notice it's Madchester, and not Manchester, nothing to do with football)

Cedric Bixler-Zivala

Once you know the stories behind the Mars Volta albums and you read up on all of the references he ties in, you become so enlightened.

Also, Josh Homme, Warren Haynes, Chris Cornell...it takes more than most people think to make a lyrical idea sound good. I have a lot of respect for song-writers.

I also wouldn't say that Maynard is underrated. He's up where he should be - talented and recognized.

Slicedit: Jonsi of Sigur Ros. He made up his own language fer kryssake.

Terry "Geezer" Butler.

When you think about death do you lose your breathe
Or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope, on the end of a rope
Do you think he's a fool?

Rocket's engines burning fuel so fast
Up into the black sky so vast
Burning metal through the atmosphere
Earth remains in worry, hate and fear
With the hateful battles raging on
Rockets flying to the glowing sun
Through the empires of eternal void
Freedom from the final suicide

I don't know what's happening
My head's all torn inside
People say I'm heavy
They don't know what I hide

Very much agreed!

Death Cab for Cutie

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breaths as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Away from me

Amongst the vending machines and year-old magazines in a place where we only say goodbye
It stung like a violent wind that our memories depend on a faulty camera in our minds
But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all
And I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself

'Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room
Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news
And then the nurse comes round and everyone will lift their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"

So who's going to watch you die?..

Well did you hear, there’s a natural order.
Those most deserving will end up with the most.
That the cream cannot help but always rise up to the top,
Well I say: **** floats.
If you thought things had changed,
Friend you’d better think again,
Bluntly put in the fewest of words,
Cunts are still running the world,
Cunts are still running the world.

Now the working classes are obsolete,
They are surplus to societies needs,
So let ‘em all kill each other,
And get it made overseas.
That’s the word don’t you know,
From the guys thats running the show,
Lets be perfectly clear boys and girls,
Cunts are still running the world,
Cunts are still running the world.

Oh feed your children on Cray fish and Lobster tails,
Find a school near the top of the league,
In theory I respect your right to exist,
I will kill ya if you move in next to me,
Ah it stinks, it sucks, it’s anthropologically unjust,
But the takings are up by a third, Oh So
Cunts are still running the world,
Cunts are still running the world.

Your free market is perfectly natural,
Or do you think that I’m some kind of dummy,
It’s the ideal way to order the world,
**** the morals, does it make any money?
And if you don’t like it? Then leave.
Or use your right to protest on the street,
Yeah, use your rights but don’t imagine that it’s heard, Oh no no,
Cunts are still running the world,
Cunts are still running the world
“I smoke. If this bothers anyone, I suggest you look around at the world in which we live and shut your f*ckin' mouth.” RIP
