EDIT: Shhit MS Paint doesnt work either. FUCK

I wanted to use Windows Media Player, but somehow, it disappeared along with MS Paint and my ENTIRE Entertainment folder (go to Start>All programs>Accessories>Entertainment).

I cant find it ANYWHERE, despite the application being on my desktop a week ago!

MS paint doesnt work, and I'm just about missing almost everything in my All Programs folder.

FUCK

Do you use Limewire, or any other program like uTorrent or did you somehow acquire downloaded data? If you don't have a good AV then that is why, you need to reformat.
I got some good guitars, yo.

"Entertainment"? We all know that means hardcore dungeon porn in the Pit.

Owned. Look for your programs in C:/Program files

They should be there.

The Windows apps (Paint, etc) will be in C:/Windows and C:/Windows/system32

Where is the WMP application?

All it has is random stuff, not the .exe icon.

I already dragged MS paint out onto the start menu but it doesnt work.

I already know how to do that, BUT I WANT A SHORTCUT ON THE DESKTOP.

And no, I do not have a virus. I have Norton scan my entire system every goddamn day and there is absolutely nothing.
#15
Right click on the Media Player exe and hit Send To\Desktop.

Norton sucks if you ask me, I use AVG.
#18
Sounds like your SOL man, I wouldn't rule out a virus just because of Norton though.

If you've got an XP disk or whatever OS you have, try a repair install.. Or whatever it's called.

Why has no one suggested a system restore or windows repair yet?

I've tried every conceivable system restore point and they wont work.

I've tried to restore back to March 2007 and it wont work.

Yeah I agree Norton is a POS software.

No, YOU listen to this.

I went outside, and there was a man with an apple on his head. As I walked by, he shouted out "forty-nine, but he'll last for six."

The next day a man got run over by the 49 bus outside my halls, but lasted nearly 6 minutes before expiring.

EXPLAIN

Also, search for wmplayer.exe

To repeat:

I have downloaded nothing within the past 3 weeks. I have not touched anything on my computer in the past 3 weeks except FF. Now MS Paint, WMP, Calculator, and my entire Accessories folder is gone.

christ tone down your voice you were yelling across the internet at size 7.
why dont you go ask fucking microsoft or something? we're just a bunch of guitar nerds what the hell do you expect?
so what was 3 weeks ago? your raid of porn? a virus can be on your computer for a long long time without you knowing, it can get on your computer without you knowing through ads and popups and shit.
or you just fucked up your computer without knowing. proven fact: 90% of Windows errors are from idiocy.
#28
ya might wanna download and scan with Super Antispyware free edition, that thing works miracles. seems like you have a trojan or something even though you haven't downloaded anything.

as for getting those things back...good luck, man.

Horny and immature or not, you're still an idiot.
Disk Cleanup can remove shortcuts not used in a while.
SHORCUTS.
Your real programs are there so shut the hell up and listen to us.
Your shortcuts are missing, not the files.
go into Run and type this in:
C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe
then WMP should open. If it does you should be good.
If not, either you fucked up or you have a virus.
Don't call your computer a POS. A computer is only as good as the person using it.
#32
^^^ Winner. TS, you've told us nothing apart from your shortcuts are missing. So what? You still haven't told us whether the goddamn programs are there, despite being asked several times.
#33
calculator and paint dont work?

you didn't happen to "spring clean" your C:/WINDOWS folder did you?

I just ran Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter on it 2 days ago.

I'm pretty sure those 2 disabled my Calculator and MS Paint, as well as deleted the WMP shortcut somehow.

I would Print Screen it and show it to you but Paint doesnt work
#36
Why not just create a shortcut on the desktop for it? If you can't do that then click Here. It sounds like somebody deleted your shortcuts since the only way to get rid of those programs is to go to "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall them from the "Add Windows Components" section
