I'm trying to set up a used guitar that I got and I need to lower the action...the problem I'm having is that the action is higher in the middle of the fretboard than it is at the top and bottom...does this mean the truss rod needs to be tightened?
what guitar is it? be specific.
dean 450s...24 x-jumbo frets, string gauge - 9's...what else do you need to know?
check to see if the neck's bowed a lot.
no, it's not visibly bowed, but i don't know what else the problem would be
Might just be the fretwires then.

Hold down the 1st and last fret of the low E string. There should a little amount of space between the 12th fret and the string (enough to slip a business card under). If there isn't, or there's too much space, you need to adjust the truss rod.
yeah, there's probably too much space there...I'll adjust it
