As requested, this recommendation thread will not be for Classic Rock bands, but rather modern bands that are heavily influenced by/sound similar to Classic Rock bands. I'm hesitant to do this, but I think it could be a useful tool in discovering some new bands, so I'll try it and see what happens.

DO NOT JUST RECOMMEND ANY BAND THAT YOU LIKE. This is going to be a touchy subject of who should go here and who should be left off the list, but try and recommend bands that, as I mentioned, sound like they were influenced by or sound similar to Classic Rock bands.

A similar format applies for recommending bands...

Name Of Band:
Year of Debut: The year this band's first album was released
Preferred Albums: Albums you would recommend by this band (3 max, and please stay away from greatest hits)
Sounds Like: If possible, give a few bands (4 max) that you think the band you are recommending sounds closest to. Basically, "if you like _______, _______, and/or ________, then should give (recommended band) a try".

IF YOU DO NOT PUT YOUR RECOMMENDATION IN THIS FORMAT I WILL DISREGARD IT.

This thread is not for conversation, so only post if you have a recommendation or correction (this does not include what albums you think should be listed. If you have a problem with that, PM me).

DO NOT SPAM THIS THREAD. All posts must be on topic and about a band. Do not complement or make fun of others' suggestions. This will only lead to warnings and/or bans.

The format for the list will be as follows:

I like Blue Cheer a lot. They sound like Foghat, Black Sabbath, and Jimi Hendrix had a beautiful psychedelic baby that later on was influenced by metal and wrote some heavy sounding rock n roll. Their debut album is my favorite(Vincebus Eruptum). Dining with the Sharks is great too.

The Beatles, 'Abracadabra'
Now Known As: 'Revolver'

The Beatles played the name game before. Their second movie, 'Help!,' was called 'Eight Arms to Hold You' almost until the very last minute. Their revolutionary follow-up to 'Rubber Soul' was originally titled 'Abracadabra,' but after they found out that another band had named their album that, they kicked around a bunch of ideas -- including 'Four Sides of the Eternal Triangle,' 'Magic Circles' and 'Beatles on Safari' -- before settling on 'Revolver,' which all four members liked because of the word's double meaning.

I saw a couple good bands in Toronto a little while back on separate nights down in the city

2012- The Bad Pack Diemonds
( sounds like: Ramones, i heard Faster Pussycat in their phrasing a bit. There Toronto Up & Comers and seam to have a strong base.

+
2013- Rynheart Demo -Rynheart
(sounds like: Aerosmith,G N' R sounding at times, i dont know why but i hear a Def Leppard type influence with the hooks. These dudes surprised me with the grove and lead work.

Overall two awesome bands and some fresh talent. whats your guys opinion?

Hey, I'm new here. I posted this in another thread similar to this, but thought it would fit nicely here as well

Band: Porcupine Tree
Genre: Progressive Rock
Debut 1992
Favorite Albums: Out Absentia, Up The Downstair, Stupid Dream

Leader of this band is Steven Wilson. There are 12 albums by Porcupine Tree I have saved in my personal favorites folder, and another eight or so that are semi- interesting. Steven Wilson has a new solo album out that has a ton of seventies progressive rock influences and is well worth checking out if you are at all a fan of Pink Floyd.

Thanks for the list, I was getting tired of the rock music today, needed a refreshing list of classic rock bands to add to my playlist.
