At this point in my guitar carrier (if u wanna call it that). I know now that i wanna sing and play rhythm. Its what i enjoy doing and its fun. So i got myself learnign chords i dont know. I know all major open , most minor, some sus and dim and some 7th. I know basic chord theory and what makes makes a chord.
So what im doing now is learning all the chords i dont know. Question is how long does it take u think to learn 1. So far im starting with 2 or 3 chords a week. Is that right or should i be slower.
Im working on placement of the chord. Working on speed of switching from chord to chord. Until i master it then i move on.

Any tips would be great ! ty

As you learn more theory, learning chords comes a lot easier. You know how they are constructed so you can make them just by reading the chord.

But when I first started learning, I was also at about 3 a week. Practice ten or fifteen minutes a day of switching between the chords, slowly at first, and you should have them down pretty quick.

EDIT: I see you know the theory. Great! It helps a ton.

ya basic theory on chords. There is a lot of info about chords and chord progresson. What i do is basically go to a chord builder site and look up say B major so then i read that put my fingers where it needs. I believe b major would be B - d - f. A tonic a major third and a perfect 5th.

That depends on how long you play during each sitting and what kind of chord you're playing. Some chords are more difficult than others. Barre chords, for example, took me forever to learn.

Your best bet, though, if you want to learn to sing and play, is to learn actual songs. It'll make the chord-learning process much more enjoyable and it'll also show you how the chords you're learning are actually being used.

see barre chords for me didnt take that long.

Really? They were hell for me. I can play them now with no problem, but I still don't like them.

Also, I forgot to correct you on something earlier...

But an easier way to write it would be x24442

if you really practise 4 hours a day you should be able to switch between 3 new chords quickly after a week

http://logue.net/chords/index.htm i got it from this site. FOr the B maj

but wouldnt a B major chord be B - D - f a triad. THis chard and ur tab shows it as B - Eb - F# . im confused. Or are they going by the B major scale?

Barre chords were easy cause i used a hand strengthener. Here is what i t looks like http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gripmaster-Exercise-Tool?sku=429070
