Last nite our bass players amp started acting up. its some peavey half stack type thing, and it started making a weird sound. its kind of like a heartbeat if that would be any way to describe it. i guess it sounds kind of like a real quick static sound about every second. Ive had this happen to 2 of my practice amps too. what would cause this?

it might be a tubing problem.

Reading the title I just though, is he talking about an MG/Spider?

Might be electronics in the bass, but you can try a different cab, bass and leads. This will tell you where the noise is coming from.

If by "clean" you mean "get a finger right up in there and do a good bit of spelunking" then i guess "at any given opportunity" is my answer.

Bass=/= guitar, most modern bass players prefer solid state for it's headroom, transparency, and weight. Most bass amps, at all levels of product lines, are solid state.

Not to say the ol ampeg SVTs aren't stilld darn popular.

why cant anyone get over the mg/spider stuff? its a bass amp, not a guitar amp. and it is a solid state peavey half stack.
