Hmmm you have a Geddy Lee sig and the Baron is way cooler than a t-bird so id say yes...but play it first!

plus they retail for about 700

Dude go for it. I've never played one but I can't imagine it being worse than an Epiphone T-Bird.

I don't think anyone has, what I can infer a few things based on the harmony central link:

1. I don't think Schecter necks have much (if at all) since it was made, so it will be really, really thin, similar to a J neck.
2. The bad news: Duncan Designed pickups aren't very good. Not horrible, but you may want to swap out the electronics and pickup. The actual Basslines version of what that bass has are probably drop in replacements, so switching to the real thing won't be difficult if you have the cash. The good news: pickups are the easiest thing to replace after the hardware, tuners, etc, and they appear to be the only weak link on that bass.
3. It appears to be a rarity. Sure, Schecters don't grow in value over time as much as, say, a Fender, but if you sell it somewhere along the line, it will probably fetch a good price, especially with the electronics swap mentioned above.
4. You're trading YOUR F***ING EPI T-BIRD FOR THAT?!?!?!? I'd consider that a great deal if it was half as good as I'm guessing it is.
5. It's really, really sexy. Get it now while you still can.

In other words, listen to what everyone else has said

Seriously, the only downside is that you might feel guilty about giving someone a Tbird.

Let's see. You have a T-Bird, and you're not jumping at the chance to trade for a Schecter? I own a Stiletto, which is very, very nice. I'm not sure about their other basses, it's possible that the Stiletto is just a freak accident of them making a damn good bass, but I imagine that any of their basses would put a Thunderbird to shame. Plus that thing is hawt as hell, and even if it doesn't play or sound thaaat great (though I'm willing to bet it's pretty good), I'd go for it hands down.

it is a rare cool looking instrument from a trustworthy company.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

....Is this the one you're buying? Gah that sucks, I live like 10 minutes away from the seller. You could post the basses to each other for about £15?

Now that's a Tele-bass in every sense of the word.
I don't know what I'm doing, but I still do it anyway...

Just for the lulz.
