Can someone explain for me the differences between string-thru and a stop tail? If I am right the string thru will require a bit longer string and that will result in more tension, is it correct?

Tension is provided by scale length, tuning and string guage of the vibrating string length e.g. between the bridge and nut.

Thru body strings will require longer strings depending on the stop tail used.

String-thru comes in direct contact with the body, more sustain.

don't you mean stop-tails come in direct contact equaling more sustain?

i'm pretty sure string-throughs go onto the tremolo plate things and decrease sustain..

either way, i find that it's easier to break strings with a les paul style bridge

The one I mean was without any tremolo and string-through the body itself. Should not be much of a different between them when it comes to sustain.

I personally prefer the Thru-Body bridges...such as on my Schecter C-1 Plus
