When I was playing the bass for Love Buzz, my guitarist said the arabian-ish sound comes from a certain scale. Can anyone tell me what the name is? The part I was playing was:

G-------------7h8p7---
D-8--6-8-9-------------

Phrygian
Phrygian Dominant
Double Harmonic

Learn them.

The key notes that are common in these 3 scales are the b2 and b6. If you don't understand those, you need go bak to the major scale and learn the intervals of the major scale.

The scale used by Dick Dale is Miserlou is pretty Arabian/Egyptian sounding.

It's probably not this one but what the hell.

Thanks everyone. This is the first scale I've ever used to write, and I didn't realize how much easier it made it, and it's pretty fun.

Im sorry, I just don't see how you could argue that hardcore isn't metal. That just seems arrogant to me.

Yes, its its own kind of metal, but its still metal.
