I've noticed a few albums about stories. Such as Nine Inch Nails' complex album, The Downward Spiral, which is a story of metaphysical rebellion and nihilism.

Also Dirt by Alice In Chains apparantly is a story of herion.

Can anyone recommend any others?

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.

Do you perchance mean a concept album?

Tommy - The Who
If Proffesor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock (Satriani) had lyrics I'm pretty certain it would be a concept album.
Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater

Concept albums are always the greatest albums.

The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails
Year Zero - Nine Inch Nails
The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd

For something new, try The Empyrean by John Frusciante.

The Mars Volta have concept albums too.

Deloused in the Comatorium - Mars Volta
Frances the Mute (sort of) - Mars Volta

Entire Coheed and Cambria Discography

Kezia - Protest the Hero
Fortress (sort of) - Protest the Hero

Metropolis part 2: Scenes from a Memory - Dream Theater

Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band (sort of) - The Beatles

Phantom on the Horizon - Fall of Troy

Keep in mind that when I say SORT OF, it means the album follows a very loose narrative that you can sort of get the gist of when you move through it. The rest are very clear in their story.

The Human Equation - Ayreon
Uncle Vernon, Uncle Vernon,
independent as a hog on ice,
He's a big shot down there at the slaughterhouse,
Plays accordion for Mr. Weiss

The Human Equation - Ayreon

I believe every Ayreon album is a concept album. I would strongly recommend The Human Equation.

The original rock opera
Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet (sort of)
Rush - 2112 (Ok, the whole album isn't a concept album, but the 20min title track could be an album in its own right)

Sgt. Pepper's -The Beatles
Seventh Son of A Seventh Son - Iron Maiden
Nightfall in Middle Earth- Blind Guardian
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - David Bowie
