soo i played bass for a year and a half, then i got bored...so i took up drums for about half a year...i think i now realize that soloing is my thing. bass and drums is too much grooving and keeping time and stuff. is there any advice for taking up guitar? after going through two instruments i really doubt that my parents will pay for lessons so what is the best way to start playing?

You do realize that soloing requires a sense of time and a feel for the groove, right?

well yes of course. i guess wut i really meant to say is that guitar is more lively and i like playing fast. i could play fast on bass but there were'nt any songs that were fun and i have no idea how to improvise. i like alot of rock/metal and there is alot of solo's and stuff that i want to learn to play.
