okay after discussions in my general "pedals" thread, i decided to do a specific OD pedal thread.

im looking to boost the distortion channel, as well as the clean to mild overdrive, on my roland cube 30x.

I'd go with the BOSS. Let me explain:

My girl was being a bitch becuase I was playing my axe too much. (Her opinion) She stomped into our living room, grabbed my pedal by the short chord and swung it over her head for a sec like a mad-woman. She then proceeded to throw the pedal down the staircase. Me, being who I am, walked calmly down the stairs without saying a word, picked up the pedal, plugged it in and started jamming again. THE PEDAL STILL WORKED.

BOSS pedal are a bit more expensive, but they're crazy bitch proof.

depends on the sound you are going for

I own the JH-1 and like it as you can switch between OD and Dist and get 2 different tones. The Bad Monkey is decent too....

you can hear samples of the digitech and marshall on their site - or just go try them out yourself.

i hate danelectro, personally, i think their pedals are cheap and not worth it

I would go and check a RAT2 PRO Distortion pedal.... its a very versitile pedal and you can produce more tones with it then a boss pedal imo! you could check it out!

The "insanely heavy sound" is going to be distortion, not overdrive.
