Well alot of punk bands are one guitar but whatever you want
If life gives you oranges, say "f*ck oranges" and bail.

's a bit vague, what sort of stuff are you planning on playing?

But you have to consider, do you want a fuller/busier sound, or do you want to split gig money less ways?
I know which one i'd pick

Some really good punk bands had 2 guitarist...The Clash is first that springs to mind.

Yeah. It doesn't matter, to be dreadfully honest.

Think of it this way:

Do you want a second guitarist? If 'yes' then get one, if 'no' then don't.

2 guitars will definately beef up ur sounds
but punk is suppoesed to sounds like ****

Well you don't need a second guitarist then! Only subtracts from your cut after gigs & it makes it harder to get you all in the one spot to practise!

Dude I got these strings the other day that couldn't be tuned to higher than 4 octaves below middle C then I realized that they were shoelaces and they weren't making any sound at all.

In light of this new evidence, I'm with metaldud.

If you want technicality and a better sound, then have 2 guitarists. If you want to keep things simple and slightly retro, keep the one guitarist and make sure the bassist is up to scratch.

I've played in punk bands with one and two guitarists and personally I'd say go for two for a better sound and better onstage shenanigans

1 punk isn't good enough for 2.

Depends on your skills and on your BASSIST skills. If you think you're good enough to create a good sound with just one guitar and your bassist is good enough to fill the song well while you're playing a solo, stick with one.

Otherwise, get a second one.

If you go with two guitarists you can have a fuller sound and be more free to play leads. Bands like Lifetime have two guitarists and it sounds really good. Most punk bands have one guitarist, but there are plenty that have two.
