I was watching a video of greatest songs of all time on the tube, and it got me thinking to what are some of the greatest songs in the different genres. So, I ask the pit to make a short five song list of each genre you enjoy. Then we can get an idea of some the greatest songs of all time decided by the pit!

Also, please remember these are pure opinions, please no flaming.

Last note, feel free to add a genre that has not been named already.

I'll start!

Rock:
1. Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin
2. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
3. Working Man - Rush
4. Last Child - Aerosmith
5. Purple Haze - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Progressive:
1. Distant Early Warning - Rush
2. Hysteria - Muse
3. Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria
4. Red Barchetta - Rush
5. Starlight - Muse

Blues:
1. Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
2. Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry
3. Texas Flood - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
4. Bell Bottom Blues - Derek and the Dominos
5. Crossroads - Cream

Alternative:
1. Around the World - Red Hot Chili Peppers
2. Plush - Stone Temple Pilots
3. Killing in the Name - Rage Against the Machine
4. Losing My Religion - R.E.M.
5. Gotta Get Away - The Offspring

Grunge:
1. Heaven Beside You - Alice In Chains
2. Jeremy - Pearl Jam
3. Breed - Nirvana
4. Spoonman - Soundgarden
5. Alive - Pearl Jam

That is my two cents!

Ballsy. I don't think many people would throw Coheed in a prog group (I don't mind it). Great song though indeed. They always kick its ass live!

dont forget the Core genres, metal, math, hard, death. even if only 2 of them in my opinion are audibly enjoyable

well who wouldn't count a group who bases their albums off of the stories from the comic written by the lead singer as a prog group? but i know alot of people will want Dream Theater in the prog group

I don't think it speaks much about your musical diversity when you put the same band twice in one list...
