well, i havent yet finished my hawaiian les paul, but im getting a neck soon.
but this guitar making business has really gotten a hold on me

this time i want to make a guitar from scratch

these things are certain:
-bolt on Telecaster body
-Jarrah Laminate on top and bottom
-gotoh "modern" tele bridge
-seymour duncan hot rail or similar in bridge position
-normal tele wiring
-tele style headstock with either
a)blank
b)inlay saying "kel-ecaster" (my names kelan)
c)something else cool

things i dont know, and questions:
-can you coil split hot rails? if you can ill do that with a push pull pot
-can you use wood to make an inlay on the headstock? as in have jarrah words inlayed.
-what wood to use as the middle piece? the meat of the sandwich you could say.
not that anyone would make a sandwich out of wood, its just a metaphor
but yeah...not sure what sort of wood to use
-neck? probably go with a premade one, as im not confident i could make on from scratch. not sure what wood, or fretboard. probably maple on maple.
-thinline? i just thought of this today and thought whether i should make it semi hollow.
seeings as its going to be a 3 piece, it shouldnt be that hard to do. (should it?)
i know that it makes the guitar lighter, and gives it a warmer tone, but are there any cons to it?
like does it feedback when played loudly (coz i would defz use it at gigs), and do i hollow out the whole body or just the bit under the f- hole?

i think thats about it...
any ideas are most definately welcome, i probably wont start this for a couple of months, but im a perfectionist (sometimes ) and i want to know exactly what im doing before i start.

also any problems that people forsee, like with the 3 piece body, please tell me!
XD

peace out

oh yeah, quick ps-

hmmm, you doing it in that red?

Also, for the wood, I'm not really sure, but I think someone else used ash with a jarrah top.

EDIT:, what's the other pickup going to be?
Supreme Commander Of The Lolcats Of the UG Army

And that guy, who had that idea, one time

4. What music do you play?
5. Have a try, you have to learn somewhere, theres heaps of tutorials and info on the net about it
6. Once again, what music? Do you want any sustain?

2-mad
3-mad
4 and 6-mostly hardcore/punk/metalcore, but acoustic style stuff too. my band has some nice soft stuff in between our breakdowns occasionally
sustain-everyone talks about it, but, so far what i got is its how long if you play a note it will hold it for
yeah?
coz i dont really play shr3dd0r stuff...at all, or any mind blowing solos

5-yeah, i guess ill just get some cheap stuff and make a practice one.
