not sure if this is the right place, but i'm planning on buying a multi-track recorder with two mic inputs, so i need some help on picking out a mic for vocals and one for mic'ing a combo amp. i have no idea where to start with looking for mics for these purposes as all i've used until now is a crappy computer mic to record into audacity. i want to keep the total price at $200 or below, i don't need high quality pro mics, just two that will work for each of the things i need them for. i just need them for laying out a basic structure for my songs (guitar and vocals). can anyone help? i usually play punk-type music so i like to use a good amount of gain on my amp.

i was looking at something like that with just the mics cuz i already know what recorder i want but i don't know if i'd be able to use those in conjunction while recording, i was thinking the 990 for vocals and the 991 for the amp mic'ing, but i don't know if that would work because it says the 991 is meant for acoustic guitar

From what I've heard, Shure SM57 for instruments and a SM58 for vox.

Hope that helps
