This is an embarrassment. This proves that women do not have the drive to succeed in a competitive society like ours in the United States. When a woman gets something through her own success, she throws it away. This is why women weren't allowed to vote for so long, and sports are for dudes.

Maybe they should just take the rival team out back and shoot them.

How is 100- 0 a dishonorable win?

That is absolutely phenomenal, why the hell would they throw it away!?

Pity.

It was against a tiny school that specialized in teaching kids with learning disabilities.

I agree with throwing it away, it's like winning at volleyball against a team of midgets.

it's dishonourable to the other team to suck so bad and try so poorly. maybe the team they were playing against were part of the special olympics?

100 - 0 is honourable if you ask me. AND I can spell honour. Being British and all.

A parent who attended the game told The Associated Press that Covenant continued to make 3-pointers -- even in the fourth quarter. She praised the Covenant players but said spectators and an assistant coach were cheering wildly as their team edged closer to 100 points.

"I think the bad judgment was in the full-court press and the 3-point shots," said Renee Peloza, whose daughter plays for Dallas Academy. "At some point, they should have backed off."

Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia.

The losing team seems to have been from a school for learning-challenged students who probably have low self confidence anyway. The fact that the winning team kept shooting three-pointers and pressing the other team full-court even after they were winning by a ridiculous margin and the fact that the parents and members of the winning school continued to cheer louder as they got closer to 100 (I'm assuming it was a home game) leads me to believe that they should apologize and forfeit. It's good to see honor is still alive in sports, even though discretion should've been used in the first place and not after the fact.

As to the threadstarter thinking that this incident is evidence towards some sort of statement about women playing sports and the character of women in general, that's just plain idiotic.

it's really, really ****ing typical of the media that they didn't put in that the students at Dallas Academy have some sort of learning disabilities.

and it's really, really ****ing stupid for those teams to play anyway. it's a stupid thing to do and it's a stupid game to play.

in fact, everything about this situation is really, really ****ing stupid. including TS for attributing this forfeit to the fact that it's an all-girls team.

I agree, if they were handicapped or suffered from some ailments. No need to make them feel worse about themselves
but if they were perfectly normal, beat them into the dust

Anyone else notice what was said at the end? That the girls on the losing team didn't think it was a huge deal, that they all quickly got over it and saw it as a learning opportunity. So my only question is, if they don't care why does anyone else? The dumbest people in this situation are the people that are throwing a big **** fit over nothing.
#27
oh man so much idiocy in this thread, for a start the losing side was made up of people with learning disabilities, how is it honourable to win 100 to 0 agains a team of handicapped people, sure it was a silly idea to have to match in the first place, but why is this any reason to hate women, and TS's remark about women having no desire to succeed in a compedative society? that is wrong in so many ways, to begin with, everyone has a different idea of what success is, just because your idea of succeeding in life is having as much money and power as possible, doesnt mean everyone else wants that.

and another thing, this example in no way shows that women dont wish to compete in a compedative society, they forfeited a basketball match because they ungracefully beat a disadvantaged team.

sorry for the rant, but people disrespecting women really piss me off
nothing.

Way to bring more attention over an embarassing loss. Maybe the other team should score a point next time.

They have dyslexia, not Down's syndrome.
