use a spray on glue to stick a graphic onto the body of the guitar then laqure over it or would it have to be sanded?

would i have to buffer it? and the laqure on my tele isnt clear its like a yellow should i still use clear so you can see the graphic?
It's going to look kind of odd if you have yellowed (aged) lacquer and then clear over the graphic. The yellowed stuff is supposed to look aged. Spray-on glue isn't what I'd suggest, either. The stuff goes on kind of thick. You really want something that's going to let the graphic lay flat.
If you're going to lacquer it do you need to glue it on first?

The lacquer will hold it down (unless the graphic is curling/warping before spraying the lacquer on).
