this is probably a stupid question but isnt 120 watts through a tube amp loud enough as it is? what is the point of even getting a cab

The amp contains the speaker which the signal is sent to from the head, which doesn't have a speaker in. Think of it like a combo seperated into two parts, and not two seperate amps. Generally speaking, they don't work individually.

Heads don't produce sound by themselves, that's the point.

EDIT: And cabs don't make an amp louder. More speakers simply pushes more air.
