Anybody with a fairly broad, good taste in music without being elitist, prejudiced or stereotypical come forth please!

I just deleted every single song off my ipod and I'm rejuvenating my song stash all over again, but I want to try new bands, stop listening to the same old stuff over and over again so I need some great bands that will really motivate me to play guitar and do stuff..

Please name a few bands that you were excited to have discovered or just leave any old comment if you have a list of favorite bands in your profile

Thanks guys.

Just about everybody, even though theirs suck and mine's the best, of course.

...modes and scales are still useless.

Vagina's tend to be not all that great looking most of the time. It's all... flappy. Looks sloppy.

I'd have to say guy junk wins but not by much. It's like winning a beauty contest against Steve Buscemi.

Easy E and N.W.A. got me into Hip Hop

Montgomery Gentry is a good country band

Metallica and Megadeth are my favorite metal bands

Misfits, Tool, Alice in Chains, Fleetwood Mac, all badass :P

Well I don't know about solos but how about that Smoke on the Water riff. It's like...impossible.

easy e, nwa and cypress hill is where it stops for me and rap/hip hop

imo, i have a broad taste in music, but as with any opinion, it is highly debatable

I'm really digging Bon Iver lately. And Dr Dog's most recent album. You can never go wrong with Fugazi.

Skip all of those, they're overrated. Atmosphere is a good starting point for getting into hip-hop.

Alright, I'll take the challenge.
I'll assume you play guitar so.....
Iron & Wine play basic to advanced acoustic and electric in an acoustic style Nice easy listening songs.
Bad Religion (but you have to listen to them a lot to get used to what they do. Its fast Punk/proggy)
Pink Floyd 'cos they are essential as air
I'm listening to non-guitar stuff atm. A Fine Frenzy, Vienna Teng. Their songs are well constructed with lots to discover as you get to know them.

King's X - particuarly these albums:
Gretchen goes to Nebraska
Dogman
Faith Hope and Love
self titled
They're a 3 piece band out of Texas that sounds a little like a heavier classic rock band, with a black lead singer/bassist, (so he's got a really soulful voice), Beatlesque vocal harmonies, and a really good guitar player. Not a shredder but very tasteful.
And if you ever get the chance to see them live, they're AMAZING!
There's my way and the wrong way.
