How come synthesizers are being used more and more nowadays. Bands like The Killers, MGMT, and now even Franz Ferdinand. Im not saying it's a bad thing, personally i like it but why?

Ok i guess that kind of answers my question but then, why are band's experimenting with synthesizers? Why now? The Killers first album didn't have as much synth as there new one, and Franz Ferdinand doesn't use synth, why now?

Dude, have you ever listened to music from the 80's? Like seriously, aside from hair metal? There was rather a lot of synth. Go buy Depeche Mode - Violator. Now.

Oh, and I forgot to mention... Synth modeling and the like is 10 times as addictive as guitar tone building. Once you start, you can never stop.

Especially synths like the SH-201

The SH-201.

Listen to A Clockwork Orange, TS, there's a wonderful score from Wendy Carlos made with the Moog Synthesizer.

Right you are. My R3 = Endless entertainment. And it's not even that full-featured of a synth.
