How do u play a song played on a 7 string guitar on a 6 string? I want to play songs by Mehuggah, Petrucci and so on. For example a song like dark eternal night.

Some beefy strings and downtuning to B or lower. But if those songs involve using the high e then basically you cannot really, unless you can reconfigure the song completely to go higher up on the fretboard and still be possible to play

that's all there is to it. thicker strings, downtune.

Yes, this is about all you can do, and even then it may not be possible.

Look dont be cheap, getting a 7 isnt just for playing a few songs, you can play everything you can play on a 6 string but more.

Otherwise... choose songs that are played on an instrument you actually have

If you don't want to change your guitar's setup, play the song an octave up. It won't sound heavy like the original, but it's something.

Downtune and if you have the tabs set to the new tune and transpose.
Then you can learn it basically with minor adjustments.

I play a lot of 7 string songs on my 6 string and I am tuned to Drop B with a string gauge '11-'58.
