Hey, I'm looking for music for my church retreat, and am sick of the standard "christian rock" fare. I'm looking for non "christian rock" songs that would work in a church retreat (songs like 40 by U2, stuff like that).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

10 years

also dream theater's "i walk beside you" is very jesus-y and not that hard to learn considering it's dream theater.

edit: killswitch engage's "when darkness falls" perhaps?

Into the Fire- Bruce Springsteen
The Rising- Bruce Springsteen
My City of Ruins- Bruce Springsteen
Where the Streets Have No Name- U2

You can also find lots of Christian themes in classic soul, blues and R&B.

Noticing a lot of metal. . . which is fine for me, but it's supposed to be a little bit more universal in appeal, you know?

And this is NOT for us to play personally. Probably.

My joke suggestion... Pagan by Cruachan.

Our father who art in heaven
Corruption be thy name
You blind your people with lies
False prophet your only gain
Thy kingdom come and be done
Your time is now at an end
The veil is slowly being lifted
Your past you must try to defend

anything by deicide, that has religious themes

this makes you cool? No sir, no it does not.

Stuff by Skillet is pretty awesome, although it depends what you church is like, its pretty heavy against your run of the mill Christian rock.

All That Remains is tinged with Christian themes in a few songs. i.e. "Not Alone", "We Stand", "Indicment" and "The Air That I Breathe."

There are some metalcore bands that are pretty cool, definitely not the "standard" Christian style.
