Hey yall,

Crazy story, this guy i know is selling a "Gibson SG Special Faded"
Truth is, he obviously doesnt realize the difference hahaa
and hes selling this to me for 400 bucks!

Its in like new condition, the only issue is, starting at about the third fret, the headstock is concaving inwards to the fretboard side.
So I told him to take off the strings and I'll set it up.
(I had the same problem with my telecaster)
Can this be fixed on a gibson?
On a tele i wasnt scared to mess up cuz i could just get a new neck.
Its obviously different for a gibson.
So could this be an issue?

It sounds like a problem with the truss rod. You should take it down to a shop and get them to check it out if you're unsure.

If it's very bent, that is a problem with the truss rod. If you don't know what you're doing with it you shoudl take to it get set up properly.

If however it's only a slight bend, that's normal. In fact you pretty much need that. No guitar neck should ever be 100% straight, especially not on a guitar with a tune-o-matic bridge.

yea i plan on sending it to a shop to get setup anyways

the guy who owned it was really into high as hell action
so he raised both the bridge and stop bar to their max
i can almost fit my pinky under the strings anywhere on the fretboard

That problem hopefully isn't being caused by the neck warp and not the stop bar. De-string it. They'll have to do it anyway to set it up.
