Eh, the British version simply doesn't appeal to me as much as the American version does, just like I'm sure the opposite is true for most Brits.

You're entitled to your opinion, as long as you accept that Ricky Gervais and the other guy mentioned by the TS came first, and without their amazing comedy minds, the American Office would never exist.
Accept it... *shakes fist*

Did any of you hear the version of Freelove Freeway played by Ricky Gervais and Noel Gallagher on Radio One?

It was awesome.

I shall second that.

Ricky Gervais is about as funny as getting a kick to the bollocks.

How could I deny that? It's a fact, not an opinion. You also have to accept that Gervais and Merchant must at least slightly like the US version because they wrote an episode for it in the 3rd season.

Its just as good as the office, if not better.

I would agree its great, suppose it was hard for gervais to embark on something completely different when 'David Brent' had been done to hell! I really enjoyed it tho

I agree.
you getting a kick to the bollocks would be hilarious to me

America hasn't made a decent original show in years. Was so pissed when I found out they are doing an Oldboy remake with possibly Nicolas Cage.
the movie isn't even a decade old!

why the hell would they remake that? The cinematography is amazing, and the acting's great. There is NO reason to remake that movie.

I love everything Ricky, Steve (and irrelevant to this specific topic)and Karl Pilkington do. The Office and Extras are amazing, I've cried with laughter in The Office, can't think of anything else that's evoked such passionate humour in me other than the podcasts the boys did.

*Flameshield up*

Where most of the world is happy to accept American sitcoms and other shows, the American media fears that the rest of the country won't like or understand a lot of international shows so they remake it and essentially 'dumb it down'.

Steptoe & Son > Sandford & Son

The Office > The Office US

etc.
