short of buying a new amp i just want to try something, my volume on my amp is fluxuating like a bitch and sometimes not even working at all..i had the same problem with my Middle Tone Control, and the pot was cleaned and presto...but i dont have the stuff to clean the pot..but what i do have is a 250k pot laying around....could i solder the 250k pot into the volume spot on the board instead of the 4.7k thats in there now....whatt efect would this have on the amp..and or sound if any.?

Is it a tube amp? if so, it's probably the tubes, not the potentiometer.
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not

nope its SS so it leads me to belive that its probably a pot....i would like to fix this and sell this in time for my marshall halfstack arriving.....or maybe keep this as a backup....any thoughts on the pot?

agreed but i know that on a guitar you can use a 250k pot..or a 500 or a 300 and they all work....i jsut want to use the 250 to test..then i will go ahead and buy a 4.7

4.7k is a pretty weird pot anyways. But 250k is way off in value to be useful as a diagnostic tool.
