So, I've been in a few bands here and there ... most failing within a few weeks/months. Anyway, I've been doing a lot of writing lately, mostly politics and expressing my views and opinions on things, some I thought were really good. I met this kid today, Rhys, I found out he played guitar and said he had always dreamt of being in a band; perfect? So I invited him over my house to jam after school, it was amazing; our improvs and everything just clicked, we were both like "wow...". We now have a bassist who I've known for ages and I'm just ****ing stoked about this.

We're a punk band, and I am doing the lead vocals and guitar (we are doing co-lead in places, mixing it up) and being the main songwriter and composer! Just thought I would tell you guys

good luck man. just avoid using this pattern for rhythm a lot

D:4-4-4-4-------------------------------|
A:2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-6-6-6-6-2-2-2-2|
E:----------2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-0-0-0-0|

try to be creative.

Good luck, once again.

It is extremely hard to write decent political lyrics. Pick up the following books so that you can avoid writing typical socialist bull****.
Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged
Noam Chomsky - Manufacturing Consent (I hate Chomsky and everything he stands for, but he's a brilliant writer)
If you're American, pick up any of the Bob Woodward books in his Bush at War series. Very, very well researched.
Plato - The Republic
Karl Marx - Manifesto of the Communist Party (be very, very critical while reading this, the theory is full of holes, but he makes some good points, especially about the role of economics in politics)
Machiavelli - The Prince (hey, if it inspire Tupac, it'll inspire you)
Adam Smith - The Wealth of Nations (the basis of capitalism. Whether you're for or against it, this book is the essential)

That should get you started. I can recommend many more if you'd like.
