For more than a while now i've wanted to upgrade the humbucker in my stratocaster. Sounds simple enough at first, but then after a while of searching for the ideal pickup i began to consider the electronics of the whole case. See my fender has an S-1 pickup switching system (changes the variations of the pickups in each selector position) and i thought that this would make the wiring a bit more complicated. Has anyone else here changed the pickups of an S-1 Fender, and can let me know how it went?

Thanks

drats. i had my mia open and didn;t snap a pic of the switching.

it's a mess in there. some guys love that sort of stuff.

and if you buy a 4 wire humbucker, i'm sure it's 4 wires off, 4 wires on, but man, it's a mess in there.

i'll see if i can find a schematic to show you.

it's just that, when you see it open, there;s a lot going on in there.

well, i dont know, some guys like a challenge.

you can always pay to have it done.

if i really didnt like the humbucker , i'd probably give it a shot.

also, mess around with the pup and pole heights of the pickup there now.
the how to, is in the green link in my sig.
