dang, oh well. If i were to buy a custom guitar, i would want the world to know. strange.

I had a question for you, how did you cut the shark in your shark guitar? it looks too good to be cut with a saw, like an inlay.
#16
Hooray! more Ormsby!

(was there something that they'd asked you not to distribute? logo or something?)

And I was trying to decipher that inlay before it'd been cut, but that's a pretty badass scorpion!

What's that inlay material?

^ White MOP I would imagine

Hey is the red spray just a contrasting colour to help with routing the inlay?

Look foward to another sweet build

Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.

Yup, ive had some trouble with the ladies. Busted up with the girl i thought was my life partner So, ive not been too keen on working, Ive just been moping around feeling miserable with myself, and i cant work on guitars whilst im like that!

But, all is back on track, and ive got a couple killer guitars im excited about right now. This is one of them.

Ok, so the questions:

No, ive never built an acoustic guitar, and i dont think i ever will. Ive never owned an acoustic either.

Finish is the Ormsby Special Sauce (oil), but im going to suggest the client goes with ungrain filled satin lacquer to help protect the mahogany.

Inlay is mother of pearl, with gold mother of pearl eyes. I cut nine eyes in total before i settled on these two.

the red paint was just an experiment to see if it was easier to see the scribe lines. I ended up using a fine texta in the end. Always gotta look for new techniques and methods to make things easier or more accurate.

Some people arent into the whole "the world knows im getting this guitar" vibe. Its bad enough for me, but now some of my clients have started being recognised as "that dude with the blue DC" at gigs and concerts. Some people like that, some people dont. Having random half drunk gig goers crapping on to you about a guitar you had built can freak some people out. Others love the attention I think nine guitars last year werent put up on the website.

Oh, and i used a jigsaw to cut out the shark 'f-hole' design, after the top was glued down. I had to cut the blade short so it didnt hit the back. New sharp blade, didnt need much sanding.

from the looks of the the picture it seems kinda like 1/2 inch.

I did just look for 2 seconds at that pic though, I much favor the neck laminate process.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
