They will be fine. If you really want to, get some 11-50/49/48 gauge strings.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I play on .13's but I have no trem if that helps any. And I'm almost exclusively in standard.

**** you guys use some heavy ass strings. I usually stick to 10's-11's in standards depending on the scale length and two of my guitars have trems.

Not necessarily. It gets to the point where it doesn't matter to much. I would much rather have more control over the strings then play 2 gauges higher. Your fingers make more of a difference then a set of strings though. If YOU can pull it off though, that's even more awesome so go for it.

i use 9's from standard to drop A. and the amazing thing is, there's no fret buzz

What kind of guitar? It must be like absolute mush in Drop A though.

It doesn't matter, just set it up. I use .13s at standard on my Strat with a trem and it works. There used to be 10s on it and the bigger strings=more tension=more snap. I've broken so many .13s I wouldn't be able to count them. I've broken relatively few .10s.

a lot of times i break thinner strings though by doing those "epic" bends.

lol
For some reason I rarely break any of my lighter guage strings even with huge bends. I break the .13s with 2 1/2 step bends almost every time so I gave up on those. It helps to just rub some graphite in the bridge saddles and nut grooves though, but I still can't do the massive bends on .13s without breaking something.

hey guys

im looking at buying a schecter off ebay that has 10-52 strings on it. i will need to go in standard tuning for school so if they will snap frequently it will be a no go.

ive gotten to standard with 13-56's but they snap really easily?

so is it possible to get to standard with a floyd rose with 10-52's?

thanks.

I use that gauge for standard on my Edwards all the time. They're a good gauge for standard with a lot of beef on the low strings.
Then there's this band called Slice The Cake...

Bunch of faggots putting random riffs together and calling it "progressive" deathcore.
Stupid name.
Probably picked "for teh lulz"

I have a hard time believing that you regularly bend 2 1/2 steps on a strat with 13s tuned to standard.

I use 10's and play in standard exclusively, so yo should be just fine.
