I have an old squire bass, one that still works fine, and is a solid bass. I am considering restringing it to be tuned lower. I have never really done the low B before, and so I am just curious to try it.

However, before I do it, is there anything I should check for/do while i do/after i do it, or basically any advice. anyone done this and had it work out alright?

btw....also want to swap out the ole crappy pick-ups soon.

if you plan on keeping it like that, just check the intonation after changing the strings (you should do that whenever you change your string gauge) and your action, for any casual fret buzz. also, clean your neck while you are on it

just downtune? if you get buzz on any of the frets then you may have to get it setup for that tuning, but otherwise it should be perfectly fine.
