I did a search but kept ending up at rackmount power conditioners. As I don't have a rack setup what would be a good option for me. I currently play bass through a vb-2 tube amp. There will be some pedals in the future but I still tend to keep it simple. We're going to be playing some local bars soon and the wiring may be ... questionable... at best. I have heard that power conditioners can help get a cleaner tone anyway so i was looking into it a bit. don't know if that's true or not but I still want to be sure my equipment is safe at the gigs. Any suggestions on non-rackmounted power conditioners?

EDIT: Also. it has plugs for digital high power equipment and analog musical equipment... which would a tube amp fit under?

Why not just get a rackmount one? I don't see the point behind wanting a non-rackmount one, it's not like you have to have it rackmounted for it to work right.

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

is it safe to leave it out. I mean to say is it built to be sturdy enough outside of a protective covering? would that power strip be good enough or should I go for a rack mountable unit?

Sure it is, plenty of people have rack gear that isn't in a rack. It's not something that's really going to be fragile as it doesn't have anything easily breakable inside it, such as tubes.

I think going with a rack unit would be cheaper and better, I've heard a lot of mixed opinions on that power strip as to if it really does what it's supposed to. Monster power conditioners aren't really particularly great in their lower price ranges either.

Furman and Monster power conditioners are pretty much the leaders. I'm not too sure about others though.
