Hey guys I realise that when I play chords, I often slightly bend one or more strings, particularly if there's a note on the thickest string. How can I stop this? I've been practicing but often if I try to stop this bad habit, then I don't seem to put enough pressure on the strings and I get a buzzing sound.

Get a higher string gauge, that should sort out the accidental bending.

The fingers are probably coming down on the strings with a too small angle. They're supposed to point perpendicular to the fretboard. Also, in my experience it's good to press the strings down very hard in the beginning, it speeds up developing hard fingertips quickly. Once you get the sound clear, all guitar practice from then on is about relaxing more and more until gradually you can keep the sound clean with very little force
