The fastest way is ordering a complete computer from a computer shop. Most of the shops give a prety good description of the capability's of the computer.

I have an HP Pavilion a6230n with an AMD Athlon 64 Dual Processor with 3 gigs of RAM and a 400gb hard drive. It comes with a NCIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Graphics and I have Vista home premium.

Best computer I've ever owned and it cost me about 800 USD after the monitor and care package.

Don't get a Dell, they're hideously overpriced for the specs.

You can get a fairly good spec PC for about 400 GBP these days, which will take almost anything else you throw at it.

Dual core processor core 2 duo preferably, although I have seen a few quad core pc's for around £400, 4GB of ram should be standard at that price range, dedicated graphics, 500gb hard-drive at least.

Thats the most important bits really.

you could always build your own desktop, its quite cheaper and you can make it beast, because you put as much money into it as you want with the pieces you want, not the ones that come with the company. My friend and me built my computer, a couple of specs are intel core 2 duo quad processor, 4gb of ram, and a 500gb hard drive, and a EVGA e-GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card, and because we know where to get the pieces, you just have to look at various stores, I suggest not the internet, unless its an insane deal. I spent about 700 on it. The moniter on the other hand was separate which cost me about 100 and it is a samsung 23 inch widescreen, and it was an incredible deal.
