I've never played live before, so I'm thinking being in a new band just starting to gig, we'd play small bars/clubs and college parties, no more than 100 people, a 25 watt Peavey Audition or a Vypyr 30 should cover it. Am I wrong?

If you have a drummer no, it takes more like 50-60 Watts to get over a drummer and still have quality sound. Vypyrs are great amps though, have a look at a 75w perhaps.

It depends, does your band/where you would play have a PA system they can mic you into?
Guitars are like voices... only with distortion...
