So I've had my guitar 3 or 4 years now, and I suppose since then I'm not so into guitar since I'm not in a band or having lessons any more. But;
I've noticed my guitar seems out of tune the further up the neck I go, as of about the 6th fret it's noticeable. I had this problem before, and assumed it was warped. I took it to a guitar shop but they just recommended new strings. It may have been literally years since I changed the strings tbh.

Will a new set of strings really fix the problem?

On a sidenote, I recently got my brother's bass of him, which has had the same set of strings since he got it 5 years ago. The strings don't resonate past the 11th fret or so. Will new strings be enough to fix it or does the action need adjusting or something?
