So on my laptop my headphone jack is screwed up, and my computer thinks that there is always headphones plugged in, so it won't play any sound out of the speakers. How would I go about fixing this? Is there a way to do it without taking my laptop apart?

I've looked in to how much it would cost to replace the jack, but it would require me buying a new motherboard for my laptop.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 and I'm running XP Pro. Help me please.

If this is meant for the computer thread, feel free to move it/close it tell me to post it there.

Edit: If I plug in headphones or external speakers, only the left channel will work.
I'll believe in anything and you'll believe in anything.
