So fellow pit monkeys, I need some suggestions for poems and songs (preferably poems) about democracy or political dictatorships (or any kind of political oppression). I'm doing a poetry analysis for English and my partners and I need a place to start. Our teacher said to try and keep it in a Canadian context if possible, so maybe if you know some 1800s poems about Canada or whatever. Thanks in advance.

I like this guy, he's UG's Greek, and he just told your ass in two paragraphs. And I once spent 5 minutes watching his avatar.

Yeah, but I'd like some poems too. I know songs can be counted as poetry, but we're doing a poetry unit right now and some more suggestions would be nice.
