Hey guys i was on ESP website and noticed a fair lot of their guitars are made out of Agathis, is this a crappy wood or good?

it's just a wood that esp uses a lot.

you'll have guys that don't know any better, telling you that it's teh suck.

but honestly, the truth about agathis is that it's usually used in lower end guitars.

so naturally guys pick up lower end models, play them, and blame the wood for the tone, or feel of the guitar.

the trick is finding a good model that uses agathis.
in that case, it'll remind you a lot of alder (if you've ever played an alder guitar).

imo, it's not really thuddy sounding, when it's used to make something better than a starter guitar.

The reflection and gloss on that guitar is so photoshopped.

I mean have you ever looked at a guitar IRL and saw that smooth striped lighting? I think not

i don't know much about agathis but i do know lighting and i can tell you that you will never see smooth lighting on a guitar like that in real life cause guitar stores aren't photo studios! That pic is not photo shopped, you just need a large rectangular soft box to achieve that look.
