unscrew the screws, take off the old pickguard, put on the new pickguard, screw the screws back in.

im talkin bout a strat
theres some stuff hooked up to the pickguard
how do u take that off safely

Well, you have to unscrew all the screws as said before, including the ones of the pickups, and about the knobs, just remove them by pulling them. It's not hard.

pop the knobs off and use a socket wrench to get the pots out. the switch tip should pop off easily as well so you can slide it through.

You just unscrew everything.

I figured that out the first time I ever did anything to my Strat (taking off those stupid pickup covers).
