Happy to see that Rhodes, Darrell, and Adam Jones is in the top 10.
Ritchie Blackmore and Slash deserves top 10 though.
And I don't know what Aerosmith and Jeff Beck are doing on the list.
It's more like 100 greatest hard rock guitarist.

Stop making threads, please.

...modes and scales are still useless.

I like the list just because Iommi's no. 1, but I don't quite agree with Hammett and Hetfield. They should be switched with Hendrix.

Edit: They think Euronymus is better than Satch? Nigel Tufnel better than Tom Morello? He did stuff nobody thought was possible on guitar! I hate this list now.

[insert disliked guitarist] IS WAY TOO HIGH.

Chris Cornell should be on there instead of Kim Thayil. He's the one who wrote all the damn riffs.

Billy Joe should be #1

It's Billie, you poseur.

True, but Hammett and Hetfield has that great unity with their rhythm and lead.

One of them got fired, one of them ran away to Tokyo.

I agree with the people on that list, just not the arrangement. IE: John Petrucci should be higher. So should Satch, Vai, Mustaine, Batio and Akerfeldt.

still, you must admit... they are better players overall
Dave was lead over James
Dave>James for Rthym
Look up Cacophony and realize Marty was in his very early 20's
Marty>Kirk
besides, exotic scales +sweeps own the pentatonic anyday

Honestly, from my perspective and many will agree that Metallica's simple riffs and solos remained powerful in presence to a lot of people like me.
Megadeth is great, with the god awesome fast solos but I'm not impressed...

This is just going to cause disagreement.
For example:
Ummm......
1: Tony Iommi

what the ****?!

Tony Iommi is not only a musical genius (come on, he can take 3 notes and turn it into a badass riff) but is pretty much the pioneer of heavy metal.

Can't play interesting solos, boring riffs (in my opinion)...

I know he did create heavy metal but come on.

Half of these artists aren't "heavy metal."

Brian May from Queen? Seriously?

It should be renamed hard rock guitarists.

that list was written in 2003 i think

if it was written now they would've included

herman li and sam totman
matt heafy and corey beaulieu
brent hinds and bill kelliher

i do not take that list seriously.
Go Veg.

Marty would rape Kirk and make him quit the guitar if they ever had a guitar battle.

Megadeth can be appreciated, but to really like it, you have to have a higher level of technicality in your musical taste. there is a reason why soo many 14 year old boys and hicks love metallica...
