^dont post if u have no clue.

a "bright cap" is a capacitor change that will brighten the tone of the amp.

I mean that in the nicest way possible of course.

it is fairly common, many times its hooked up to a switch (bright switch) to have some flexibility tone wise

well, kind of, but it also "smooths out" the tone when overdriven...ya know, keeps it from being too harsh.

It's supposed to make your amp play nicer with OD's, and other tone things, I forget now.

Check out the Vox forums, the kids there are really helpful.

It can make it ice-pickey in the ear too if you don't know what you're doing.

^just pick the right value and your good to go though.

Doesnt really matter though cause as you turn amp up the cap becomes less and less effective.

Depends on where the cap is...if it's parallel to a gain pot, yeah. I've used one across a voltage divider, which has an effect at all freq.

Ya, I thought about that afterwards. Good point.

I have tried the voltage divider with the cap parallel in some amps. I think I like the cap in parallel to a level pot. Seems more natural to me.

Hey cool my amp already has one of those. I was wondering what the "bright" switch was for.
