I was watching the SNL sports special, and I noticed the guitarist in the orchestra is playing a guitar that looks like a combination of a Tele and a Strat.

It has a tele body, a strat pickguard and pickups (it was HSS,) and it had the Tele knob-thing (it was the metal plate with the metal knobs that you find on a Tele. It had a normal Fender headstock.

I can't get pictures of it, but does anyone on UG happen to know what guitar this might be?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Yeah it was HSS but that one I was linked to is close enough.

The clip was kind of old though, what I was watching was a complitation of SNL sports skits.
