There are a few good local shops around here... i usually only go to one though because they tend to give you quite a bit of free stuff if you buy something.

I got my guitar/amp from Guitar Village - the people in there are brilliant.

Bits and bobs, surprisingly Amazon is reasonably priced and has most odds and ends (plus it will ship somewhere other than the billing address unlike some online music shops unfortunately).

The three stores local to Bath, plus I got my Gibson from Andertons (though I went over to the store itself, I didn't use their website). I will occasionally use Thomann for ordering pedals and other similar things.

I've used GAK a couple of times too in the past but their service has been so bad and they've screwed up so many orders I don't even consider them now. I know a lot of people have had good results with guitarvillage too.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

Got my fender strat and HRDx from Mansons in Exeter - not the cheapest place but they have a reasonable range of Fender and I think they're the main importer of Bad Cat.

I go to PMT as you get a good deal and friendly customer service. Also if you ask them questions the give decent answers and are normally very helpful. This makes a nice change compared to other guitar shops I have been into.

The worst in my experience are Express Music in Solihull who's staff especially the manager who are very arogant, have bad attitudes and very lacking in even the most basic of knowledge in my experience. They only became friendly when they thought I wanted to buy an expensive guitar. Due to this they lost two guitar and additional equipment sales to PMT who I would happily recommend.

Yeah, GAK is decent. Good prices (usually, and they delivered everything of mine on time.

Whoa. Bath people.

We really need to get another store. DSP & SI are full of beginner gear and most of the staff in DSP can't work their own till half the time. V&R has nothing if you're not a collector and their staff are too up their arses. We really need something like an Andertons, mid-range/high-end gear and staff that can run the store like they're supposed to and not insult customers. I'm tired of having to travel 4-ish hours to Guildford and 4-ish hours back just to try a few things or speak to someone who has a clue.

isn't jam guitars near bath? it's in the outskirts of bristol, i think, and if memory serves, it's only about a 10 minute train journey between bath and bristol. judging by their ads in guitar magazines and their website, they have a ton of really nice stuff. if i lived in bath i'd be hitting it up...

www.jamguitars.co.uk

regarding where i buy stuff, it really depends on who has what i want at a price i want to pay. normally that means i just don't buy anything.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.
